Yeah, I understand. In my particular case I run 2 gauge wire from the battery about 18" to a lug where my accessories connect. The alternator run is 8 gauge wire, about 12" from that spot. Running an additional 12 gauge wire in parallel over to the lug just doesn't seem necessary. The drop across 12" of 8 gauge is negligible I think.
